do as they see fit with their property is a perfect point of view, and a principle on which the country was founded, and launched it to greatness. I tend to agree. Dont need to know everything in order to know when my rights or the rights of a fellow Z'er are being trampled on, but I can see where to a sheep (not calling YOU in particular, a sheep), it may seem as being incredibly intelligent....everything is relative you know. Not sure why if you are admittedly the target driving your gas guzzler, you want to defend those taking aim at you. You certainly have that right. Now others of us dont take so kindly to being painted with crosshairs, so pardon us if we choose to stick up for ourselves and go after those wrongfully imposing on those who are doing nothing wrong. It's really simple. The guy needs a job, has to pay bills like the rest of us. It's obviously not worth his time or job to let Sactotodd "slide" just so Sacto or you, won't think he is a "douchebag". Your good favor isn't going to pay his bills. So you can either make it worth his while by giving him enough money to "let it slide", or you can take a real assessment of how this whole situation came to be in the first place and do something about that. I'm sorry it has to come to blanket-statementing people from San Francisco and CA in general, but the saying "people get the government they deserve" really does hold true, and if you aren't part of the problem in that part of the country, then I dont see why you would kneejerk react to the guy doing his job trying to make a living, and not go after the people who impose this ridiculous and tyrannical emissions system on the otherwise good citizens of that state. Regardless of what car you drive, if you do support the people and ideology that imposes this level of tyranny then you in fact ARE just like every other hippie around there, as far as car guys are concerned. Don't shoot the messenger. As car guys on a car forum it will be a simple thing to stay out of politics, once politics stays out of our cars. I've never heard Glen Beck advocate anything that requires or will result in telling me what I can and cant do with my Z, much less any other part of my life. That's +1 for Mr Beck IMHO. And last I checked the man does not hold any office in any level of government. He simply discusses politics and current events from his point of view, which happens to be more inline with the overwhelming majority of Americans, and the principles on which the country was based but lost over the last 80 years. How he even fits into this discussion is beyond me. But if you are part of the demonization crowd, making you another liberal who relies solely on villainization, class-warfarism, race-baiting, and otherwise completely divisive tactics, then nothing more can be expected of you but to go after the innocent just trying to make his living. I used to say the same thing about "those prick bartenders" who took my fake ID's when I was 19-20 yrs old, or refused to serve me because I was obviously under-age....it never occurred to me that they gotta make a living too and the state would send underage ppl in on purpose to ensure rules were being followed and if not, the Bar would be fined thousands of dollars and the bartender almost certainly fired, making it that much harder for him to get hired at any other good bars. Ignorance, plain and simple. I would sit and stick up for liberal policymakers who backed that sort of silly drinking age law, and then target my anger from being crossed by it onto the little guy who has nothing to do with how I found myself being wronged. Think about it.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every principle of our socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without ever knowing how it happened.... I no longer need to run on the Socialist Party ticket because the Democrat Party has now adopted our platform." --Norman Thomas, 1944 Socialist Party Presidential Candidate "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." --Winston Churchill
